I'm finally back from camp! Children's camp was surprisingly extremely fun. I feel kind of old actually, I just realised that I'm actually like 3 years older than the oldest few. That's like my brother and me. Okay. Met some interesting kids, plus I got to know the teens a little better, so yeah. Here goes, oh I might have to post in parts. The camp was 4 days. Not four days 3 nights. But 4 days. Unusually long.
Sunday
Registration started at 2.30. Dawn jiejie Vania jiejie and I were in charge. It was actually kind of fun. There were in total like 50 kids, and we had like a lot to do. But we split the work and my job was kind of easy. I gave them their receipts, the indemnity form, timetable and help ask if they're coming for talent night. So after that we took a bus to the bb campsite. The first thing we did was unload our stuff in the dorms. I was in the first dorm with Auntie Cassandra and Mary and all the youngest girl campers.
Then it was orientation. Nothing much. They surrendered their handphones snacks medicine and all that stuff. Then the teachers logistics leaders and all were introduced. Bath time was retarded. The showers only had cold water. So we had to boil water for people who needed hot water. It was supposed to be for those who had a medical reason, but in the end a lot of people raised their hands. And guess what. They were all boys! So we carried the buckets of hot water to the boys toilet, and all the helpers were like. -.- Haha.
I got to know my bunkmates, some random kids from the next dorm came over to disturb us too. Megan Clarissa and Claudia were playing on my bed. They climbed up and I had to carry them down. They repeatedly did that. You see this is what happens when you have a room filled with young girl campers. Can't remember what we had for dinner. It wasn't really nice. My group's two youngest kids, Claudia and Jonathan, take forever to eat. Claudia's 5, and she uses her fork to comb her hair, not only when she just gets it, even after she starts to eat. I'm serious.
So after that it was more ice breakers. We did a lot of blow wind blow. But it was kind of easy for me, because I hardly got blown! And Jiemin followed me everywhere I went. So in the end there wasn't much names to remember. Then we also played this game where you had to get people to do stuff for you and sign on your paper. There was one where you had to get a female to tell you a nursery rhyme. A lot of people came after me for that. Its not like I was the only female right? Or maybe its just that there were a lot of boys. People came to me to teach them a dance move and a line in a song. I asked Wayne for that because you had to ask a teacher or leader. And guess what he 'taught' me? Mary had a little lamb. I finished my paper really fast. Despite having to do stuff for a lot of people. I hate the leap frog thing.
Then it was supper and sleep time. Claudia stayed over in the end, and gosh she is fussy. I had to do a million and one things to put her to sleep. Fortunately I only had to do it once, because our debrief was pushed forward for the next few nights. So after we managed to get everyone in bed we went for debrief. After that Mary and I went to bathe. Then we went to the tugshop to stone and wait for our hair to dry. We're always the last to bath. We played taidi and every other card game I knew. That night was pretty okay, managed to get some sleep.
Monday
Waking the girls up was pretty okay. Because I think they all slept pretty well too. We had some exercise. I wouldn't really call it exercise tho. More like games. Then it was breakfast and then quiet time. I didn't do much. Because Auntie Cassandra did everything. Their worksheet is super easy. Even for some of them. Then it was Worship. Mary and I taught them My Everything. And then Fun Science. It was quite okay. The people in my group are kiasu. All of them want to sit right in front and they'll pull their chair all the way until they're touching the teacher's table. The experiments were all kind of successful. After that it was tea break and then Clay!
I am so not used to the clay they use. It's extremely soft compared to the one we use in school. I used the pinch pot method thing, but it was kind of hard to join them, since the clay was so soft. Its more like plasticine. I made a snow man. lol. Because of christmas. Theodore made a penguin. There were a lot of funny pieces. My brother made a Macdonald meal. We had spare time so Theodore and I made an entire collection of smileys. Super retarded.
Then it was lunch. Slightly better food. And then the telematch. We didn't play the outdoor games because it was raining. The memory game was stupid. Because the stuff were so far away they couldn't see when someone opened something. Tho we could. Because the leaders were standing over there. Haha, in the end we helped them. Like we told them where everything was. Because the other group did that and ended so much earlier than us. Haha, then we had to unscramble and memorise the verse. The verse was actually in the booklet. Lol. The scissors paper chair game was retarded. All the kids in the group we were competing against did scissors so I stone all the way. Lol. We did the bean game in record time. And the limbless game was kind of easy, but not for kids I guess. We stood in a circle and had to pass a ball 70 times without dropping it. We had to restart quite a few times but in the end Wayne let us cheat on one, because we were so close.
After that we had area cleaning. My group got the boys toilet. It was kind of gross. Zihow came to help. I mopped like the entire toilet. And wiped the mirrors and basins. Though I refused to clean the toilets itself. Haha. I didn't have to anyway. We did it barefooted okay. Probably the most gross thing I ever did. My bro's group did the girls toilet. Lol. Then it was bath time. We had to carry the buckets of hot water again. Mary and I stayed outside the toilets to stone. Most of the leaders were there. Because the guy leaders had to help mix the hot water for the boys. And there are only 3 girl leaders. Mary was avoiding WingYan. She is seriously like glue. She sticks to people, and at that time it was Mary she stuck to. And Mary's in Games. Jason, who's her leader, almost wanted to transfer her. Haha. But in the end she started to stick to Jason because Mary constantly disappeared. She's okay but kind of scary. She appears out of nowhere to say hi all the time. Nearly gave me a heart attack.
Then it was dinner and then drama games. I didn't play much. Because I had to help John korkor be demo. Because he knows that I have been 'trained in drama' lol. We did the walking around and freezing thing. And then we did mirroring. And then sculpting. Which is basically freeze frames. It was kind of funny, because Baby Amos was around. And then when everyone froze he started singing barney! Haha. So cute. Titus and Daniel had a hard time freezing because Amos was disturbing them. After that it was skit discussion. I took care of the narrators. It was really fun. And I prety much torture my narrators. Haha. I made them start memorising. But the thing is, their lines are actually quite short. There's one part where they had to say 'Right' like five times synchronized. I made them repeat from the top every time it wasn't synchronized. Usually its Melvin who screws up. Haha.
Then it was supper again and then we had debrief. We did exactly the same thing. Except Mary and I went to bath later. Because we were talking to a few people. We spend most of our free time sharing our children problem and stories. Haha! After bathing we chatted a bit with Auntie Ros and kept on playing our lame games.
Tuesday
My sickest day. I finally finished my antibiotics. Oh and it was sunny for once. We did the same thing for the morning bit. The exercise was kinda retarded. I partnered Mary and we just stoned. I didn't have breakfast, because it was spicy and I was supposed to be avoiding that. Fun Science was tiring. Claudia was being especially crazy. She bit and sucked her pen and said it tasted like pasta. It took Theodore and I forever to get her to stop. Like an entire station. Then during our last station, she started jumping on us. Not that she didn't already do that. But this time she spent the entire station jumping on us. And I do mean literally. I pity Theodore, she jumped on him most of the time.
Then it was teabreak which I skipped again. I never had the tea breaks and suppers. I just drank my sorethroat water, or what I now call, miracle water :D Then we had first aid. The talk was extremely long. I just stoned throughout the entire thing. And avoided all of Wayne's shots. I've been doing that throughout the camp so it's kind of instinctual now. Hahaha. He's the paparazzi. He takes everything and everyone. He even hides behind pillars to get shots. Weird.
Then it was lunch, I ate a little bit. It wasn;t really appetizing. Even though it was probably one of the best meals we had. I was seriously sick I didn't want to eat anything. We had games again. We played the water games. Our group owned like mad! The first game was transporting water bombs using trash backs to throw them. My group got 17 in total. And the rest of the groups got like 8 or 9! Haha. Then the next game was trasnport a sponge through tossing and filling up a bottle. We won that too. And because of that, our group went from fourth to first.
Then it was gobble up. We prepared a meal. We have this every year. Theodore helped with the cooking. And I helped with the table deco as usual. Believe or not we spent the entire 1 hour or so folding napkins. Our group did some BBQ pork mini pizza. But we used English muffins. So it was like a crossbreed of pizza and burger. It was pretty good. But I didn't finish mine. My brother came over and stole half of it. Haha. He stole the half that was left from the judges too! Haha. We won that too.
Then it was area cleaning. It was the dorm cleaning for me. My group had all the young ones, so in the end I cleaned up the entire dorm myself. But Phylicia helped. Thankfully. Believe or not they actually fought over sweeping. -.- After that it was bath time again. We were all late due to the cleaning. Then it was dinner which I skipped. And Rehearsals.
Rehearsals were fun. I love my narrators. They are retarded. And I love being their director. Its extremely fun. Rehearsals were pretty okay. My narrators memorised their lines. But I had to prompt Melvin most of the time. Then it was supper again and then debrief.
After the debrief, the guys went to get all the leftover water bombs to play. A few of us just sat and talked at the table, because we didn't want to get wet. It was super retarded watching them. It was so unfair. Because they have like one target, and then they all gang up and attack that person. They have plans and everything. They kept targeting Vania jiejie. Because she never gets to have this. They call her Britain. Because she studies there. And just came back for a while. So it was Singapore against Britain! Haha. Somehow she got her hands on a hose and they all got jacked! Haha! It was really hilarious to watch.
I've got bible study later, so I need to bathe. I'll post the rest another time.
